KUTIPAN – Seorang anak laki-laki berusia 13 tahun dilaporkan meninggal dunia setelah tenggelam saat berenang di perairan alur laut Nelayan Tanjung Buntung, Kecamatan Bengkong, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau, pada Sabtu (18/4/2026) siang.
Korban diketahui bernama Yezkiel. Ia awalnya berenang bersama teman-temannya di sekitar lokasi kejadian. Namun sekitar pukul 14.10 WIB, korban diduga terbawa arus yang cukup kuat hingga akhirnya tenggelam.
Mendapatkan laporan tersebut, personel Polsek Bengkong bersama warga setempat segera melakukan pencarian dengan memanfaatkan perahu nelayan.
Upaya tersebut akhirnya membuahkan hasil, setelah kurang lebih satu jam pencarian, korban ditemukan dalam kondisi tidak bernyawa.
Kapolsek Bengkong, Iptu Yuli Endra, S.K.K.K., membenarkan insiden tersebut. Ia menyampaikan bahwa dirinya bersama jajaran turut turun langsung dalam proses pencarian dibantu oleh masyarakat nelayan.
“Korban sudah berhasil ditemukan dan telah dievakuasi. Selanjutnya, jenazah dibawa ke UPT Puskesmas Tanjung Buntung sebelum diserahkan kepada pihak keluarga,” ujarnya.
Pihak kepolisian juga mengingatkan masyarakat agar lebih waspada saat beraktivitas di perairan, terutama di lokasi yang memiliki arus tidak menentu.
Keselamatan harus menjadi prioritas utama, khususnya bagi anak-anak atau mereka yang belum mahir berenang.
Peristiwa ini menjadi peringatan bagi semua pihak untuk lebih berhati-hati saat berada di kawasan pantai, laut, maupun aliran sungai.
